“The worst punctual airline operator” is the title recently received by Wizz Air, which managed to “assemble” no less than 22.9 minutes of delay on every race leaving the UK.
The Hungarian company blamed bad weather for 44th out of 44 in a ranking of operators.
Norwegian Air Shuttle took the 43rd place, with an average of 21.7 minutes late, while Vueling Airlines and Thomas Cook each recorded 21.1 minutes of delay on the race.
To make the ranking, BAR UK took into account 44 companies that operated at least 2,000 flights from the UK in 2017.
The most “punctual” companies were Scandinavian Airlines with an average delay of 7 minutes, Aer Lingus (9 minutes) and Air France (10 minutes).
“A number of UK-specific factors, including airport infrastructure, air congestion and time constraints, have contributed to a much lower performance than in other regions where we operate,” said Wizz Air spokesman.
